We use a couple of saw file brands. For saw sharpening files in sizes 5 xx-slim and above, we use Simonds saw files. For 4 xx-slim and smaller, we use Grobet files. Flat files used in jointing and general shop use, we use Simonds.

Our file recommendations are different than other saw makers and saw filing instructions you may find on the internet or in vintage saw filing booklets. We believe in using the smallest file possible that fully covers the longest angle on adjoining teeth. Why? Because most instructions advise using a file that only uses one-half of a given file's face. The theory is that this gives the file full use of all three corners and faces as the file wears.
