Note: We live in a connected world. Gosh, I pretty much hate that phrase! It is appropriate today.
I have several of the recent saw sales packed and shipped, others being cleaned and packed, some yet to punch teeth in (panel saws) and so need sharpening.
I am writing this on my way in to the hospital for open heart surgery. See? Connected devices do come in handy. Kris will continue to punch, set and sharpen the panel saws. My wife will be packing & shipping more saws beginning Monday. I suspect tomorrow (Friday June 10th) will be a bit hectic. I do apologize for the interruption.
I don't know how long I will be laid up this time and will update this note when I can.
We've cut out many a saw handle that for one reason or another never ends up married to a blade. Most of these handles end up in our burn barrel—unless we can cut a pen blank or two out of them.
Many of these handles, though, sit on a shelf waiting for the "one day we'll finish 'em off anyway." Off and on over the past several months we've finished a few of them and so we are creating a Sales Page for these. The handle defects range from worm holes to small splits we tried to cut around and still ended up with a surface check, a light crack, etc. These are filled with CA glue and are structurally sound and if it weren't that I liked the wood for one reason or another, they too would have been tossed out. Each saw will have the defects noted and the price reduced accordingly. All of them are one-offs. These will be up for sale on Friday June 3.
We are also happy that during the past several months, mainly on weekends, we have a bunch of saws made from figured Australian Eucalyptus. And as noted above, some of these wonderful boards had defects and will end up on the Sales Page mentioned above.
These Harvey Peace styled saws consist of 22" panel saws (with the popular pick your toothing), 16" large tenon saws filed rip, 14 in tenon saws filed cross cut, some 14 ppi cross cut carcass and some 16 ppi dovetail saws. These will be up for sale on Friday June 3.
The saws in-stock are now up for sale:
One of the #50 Large Tenon saws...
Pictures of all the saws have been taken, I just need to finish off the pages and publish them so they are live. Once published, I'll place appropriate links from this article.
